So much to say!

Happy Monday!

I had a truly awesome weekend, so let me start at the beginning so I don't forget anything!

Friday I didn't get a chance to post, but I got a chicken-bacon-ranch salad from Subway for lunch. I'd forgotten to pull food out of the freezer so I made a good fast-food choice.

At dinner, I wasn't really up to turning on the oven in the heat, so I made a grilled ham & cheese sandwich with leftover zucchini-yellow squash.

It was okay, nothing in comparison to my lunch yesterday! But I'm rushing things so let me get back to Friday... I was planning on a quiet night watching a movie, but we unexpectedly went out with some of the Husband's work buddies.

We went to
Huske Hardware, had lots of fun & didn't get to bed until 2am!!! I was mighty tired but totally excited for my weekend, so I got some coffee
and headed on up to Virginia.

This was while driving up 95, I took it as a sign of a great weekend to come!

Made it to Richmond with no problem, there wasn't much traffic at all--another reason why I love to leave early when it comes to traveling. I met up with Christie from Quit Your Diet!!

She's a really awesome gal and we had a great time together! First we went to a local farmer's market and picked up some heirloom tomatoes.

After walking around a bit, we headed into downtown Richmond to have lunch at the
Capital Ale House.

I had some very nice roasted vegetable soup.

And the Pear & Bleu Salad: mixed greens topped with fresh pear, bleu cheese and spiced walnuts with balsamic vinaigrette.

I picked off the croutons. I really loved this salade and gobbled it up! This restaurant was REALLY neat--the bar has ice embedded in it! Isn't that such a cool idea??? The ice helps your drink to stay cold and the bartender doesn't have to wipe down the wet rings left from condensation!

I headed back on up the road to meet up with Soly before the concert. We always have a great time when we're together, always full of laughs!! She's never been to Chipotle--her being from L.A. you have no reason to with all those authentic Mexican places! Since we don't have one in Fayetteville, I was so happy when we agreed to go there. Both of us got beef tacos.

Isn't she cute??
We were unable to take our cameras into the concert, but DMB put on a really great show! They played a lot of the new album and a few other songs that I wasn't too familiar with. My favorite part was during Grey Street when we danced in the sidewalk between the seats & the lawn.
Sunday we got some lattes and donuts from Dunkin Donuts (I was a teensy bit hungover & not in the mood to take a food pic). After getting nice & sugared up, we said our goodbyes and I headed back down South to Richmond where I met up with Christie to go to the Carytown Watermelon Festival!
We split a bowl of the juiciest watermelon and headed into Penzey's Spices . I've always wanted to go into Penzey's when I'm home in Columbus, but for whatever reason it never happens! Here's my loot--peppercorns, breakfast sausage seasoning, Italian dressing spices (since I eat SO many salades!) and they handed us the Tuscan Sunset on the way out the door (yes, it was FREE!).
There were many hippie-like vendors and street musicians.
All the shops in Carytown are so cute and I'd really like to go back to visit so I can see all the shops! We stopped for lunch at the Brasserie Can-Can a cute little French place.
The inside reminded me of a café in Paris near the Grand Opéra.
Christie got a Croque Madame and fries
I ordered the Croque Monsieur--which is the same as the Madame, minus the fried egg on top. He was less than photogenic, so I'll let you use your imagination :) I got some macaroni & Gruyère on the side.
After lunch we walked over to a little chocolate shop, For the Love of Chocolate--the smell inside was HEAVENLY!!
Here are some beautiful truffles
And other assorted goodies.
I got three truffles--dark chocolate raspberry, cinnamon-latte and a chocolate mousse truffle. They are waiting for me in the fridge at home :) I can't wait! On our way out, we were handed a really cute little watermelon lollipop!
I ended up leaving around 5pm and was exhausted from the lack of sleep, the sun & scorching heat of the day. When I got home, I unloaded all my goodies, showered & went straight to bed!
After one of the best night's sleep I've had in a long time (yay!!) I woke up and cleaned up the kitchen and made my breakfast smoothie.
I'm out of spinach, so I'll have to run to the grocery store tonight after work.
Today's smoothie:
1 cup almond milk
1 banana
1 scoop whey protein powder
1 scoop wheatgrass
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
cinnamon
1 T coconut oil
Today I'm wearing my new dress!! It was from one of the hippie-vendors at the festival and the best part is that it was on sale!!
Okay! So that was my entire weekend for ya! I'm going to make some more tea and get to work!

Hope you have a good day!!

Hey Meg! Thanks for stopping by my blog. Where in NC do you live? I am heading back that way in about 1 1/2 weeks for school. I look forward to reading more from you!
